What's Happening At Book Readers Heaven...Beginning Favorite Author Selections...

September is here already and summer and fall are fighting to keep it hot and muggy or begin the shedding of leaves and  preparation for our winter. I've been very lucky to have found Steve, who is helping me landscape around the cabin and he's doing such a wonderful job... It's great to see the talents of an expert given wing to fly in doing what he thinks needs to be done to improve your personal environment!

So, I've had a little time to think about the past years and the upcoming ones, as they fly by so fast... Basically, when I started to review books full-time and was working at the Independent Professional Reviewers site, there was an emphasis to helping new writers who found it hard to get reviews...That's been about 10 years ago and I looked around the cabin and saw the stacks of books I had acquired that were written by my favorite authors--like Michael Connelly, who has a book sitting on the shelf in my bedroom that is only one of many written by favorite authors, not being read in a timely fashion... When I saw him on Castle last night, I decided his book would be the first... I also just picked up a Karen Slaughter and several others...Well, you get the idea... At first, I chose not to review books by the "biggies" because I knew there were always many reviews for the best of the best...but I've found I've been starving myself a little...and as my years go by so fast, I decided that had to end...So, be prepared for all of us seeing what I can do to bring the books of the major authors of our time alive here at Book Readers Heaven! It should be fun!

Hey everybody! I also want to thank all of you who made just under 23,000 (22,988) hits here last month, with visitors from India, Pakistan and the Netherlands! I often wonder how somebody new finds their way to Book Readers Heaven, don't you? Was it a book? was it through a computer search? Or, did somebody tell them to stop by? No matter how, I'm so happy to have you visit and hope there will be something here at BRH, or my sister blog, to bring you back!

It was a busy month for me as I worked on an interview, prepared for a blog tour, plus kept reading to be ready to provide continuous book reviews++ for your entertainment and enjoyment. One of the authors, Peter Darley, called what I'd done for his trilogy, a "fan page" for his individual books...I kinda liked that analogy. I had already gotten enough comments to start adding a couple of ++ to show that each article is more than a review, but considering that each is an actual fan page for the book strikes me as a realistic description, what do you think?

Importantly, this past month has spotlighted two non-fiction books, both disturbing in their own way... I had a great discussion about the Bible from a former Christian pastor and helped to publicize and promote the book Seduced, which I will continue to do for this one book! Every time I think about what is happening in America and across the world where human trafficking is steadily growing, I become angry... The U.S. has become so driven by sexuality that millions are being slowly "groomed" for something so hideous that they fail to comprehend the dangers out there, everywhere, waiting...

I thought I'd start off September with a little lighter romance, the first, Save My Place, by Olivia deBelle Byrd, Many of you know that I've presented a number of books about the Vietnam War era, but this is the first I've read, written from the perspective of the wife of one of our soldiers who was there... Look for it, probably tomorrow if nothing happens...

There's also a blog tour scheduled later this month. I enjoyed working with Mary E. Martin and her tour guide last month. It was the first one I've participated in that did it exactly how I'd always expected it to happen...namely, we were asked to provide the site locations of both the previous tour stop and the following tour stop to readers, so they'd be able to move right along to their next stop... Kudos to Vonnie for her work with Mary E. Martin, author of two very different and both wonderful, Trilogies! Of course, I've only read the first book in the legal thriller series, but I'm predicting that I'll read the entire trilogy some time in the future...

I will continue to hit hard at important social issues--one book coming this month is about a child who claims he should have been aborted... It's not an easy book to read, but is filled with the emotional impact of an abused child who is crying his personal facts out to others to know what adults are doing to their children...
..
On the personal side, I had a week of antibiotics for infection in my teeth, and then had one removed... My entire right side of my mouth had let me know that I'd been procrastinating too long, so I was dealing with the pain of that delay. Do you find it hard to tackle health issues? I do now and I know it is because of the medication that was not helping me for the last 5 or so years... Soooo, now that I've gotten rid of that last infection, I'm looking to go back and deal with my foot surgery. Yikes! getting old and retirement brings both joy and pain! I'm having to deal with the latter for a while... But, no matter how I feel, I realize that there are many more across the world that are much worse off than I am, and wish, some way, that pain, caused by any reason, could be eliminated... A song popped into my mind from a cantata I sang in by John W. Peterson... One of the Songs was "No More Pain When we get to Heaven... I couldn't find that particular song saved to video, but here's one I enjoyed...

During last month, we learned from an expert that The Bible has questionable material that had affected the beliefs of this Christian...I find that no matter how much I become doubtful like Thomas, bottom line for me is that I still believe in God and the Holy Trinity... I will probably continue to doubt The Bible as our guide...that's why I've always turned to the Holy Spirit to provide answers... I don't claim to know anything for sure, except that I do know that God would never have wanted us to be the violent and sex-driven world we have become... Think on it... Only you can find the life you are meant to live... Only you can find the truths that guide your path...

God Bless..
Glenda -
Well, that's done for another month...
